Alan Borg was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1977. Currently residing on the Yorke Peninsula, Alan has had the privilege of being surrounded by some of Australia’s most beautiful and pristine coastlines. Since childhood, he has always had a deep connection with the ocean. He spent countless hours snorkeling, diving, and searching for tiny critters in the tidal rock pools. Winter storms often saw Alan and his mother beachcombing for shells along seaweed-strewn beaches and searching for ocean treasures.
Inspired by coastal themes, Alan’s art developed a strong environmental focus. His intention to promote environmental awareness through sustainable art became a reality as his work captivated art lovers worldwide. By combining driftwood, sea glass and beach-found shells, he creates pieces that evoke an emotional connection to the sea. Alan collects his materials from across Australia. He is driven by a passion for beachcombing and the challenges of accessing the country’s more remote and barely accessible beaches.
Now as a full-time, award-winning artist, he is thankful to have discovered his passion. His creations transform driftwood and flotsam into a tangible connection with nature.
