This bird has a distinct cackling call, a vivid blue tail and wing feathers that flash brightly in flight, making it one of Australia’s most colorful kingfishers.

Measuring 63cm by 48cm, this sculpture is made from driftwood collected along the beaches of the Northern Territory and South Australia, and is accented with shimmering Paua shell.
